I've always loved Sony...
But I won't be buying the PS3 if it isn't changed.
In the last Console wars XBox and Gamecube might as well not have existed for me.
But PS3 I think Sony really got mislead in the Format Wars.
You might think, WOW Sony PS3 costs ALOT. And this is because Sony a long time along put 100% faith in the BlueRay Technology (as opposed to HD-DVD) as the next standard. BlueRay is INCREDIBLY Expensive on both sides right now.
Thats their first big break...PS3 is being thought of like a Large Computer purchase instead of a toy to buy your kid for Christmas. This will cost them alot over the first quarter I think, but won't matter much after.
The second big break...After putting 100% faith in Blueray and making this a BlueRay player, Sony sort of got slapped in the face when several companies announced the format wars are basically over, because most companies will be making Dual-players (for both HD-DVD and Blueray) in the future, at semi reasonable prices. This doesn't mean its over...If HD-DVD wins out in the end because its cheaper...PS3 might as well not exist because its price and format functions would just be laughable compared to others unless thats changed.
Some way that doesn't matter to gamers...but in this new age 360 and especailly PS3 are NOT sold and advertised as Gaming machines...they are truly multifunctional entertianment centers.
SIDE NOTE:Nintendo will never really lead the console wars right now either don't get me wrong, their still classic and their machines aren't really multifunctional like the others, but are often good for their propose. Their Wii will be the least expensive (Announced that it will not exceed 25k yen, which is little over $200 USD) and the most different in design. I'll probably pick one up over the PS3 sure, but thats more because its an affordable toy..
But as always...Sony surprises. But I am not sure if even their fanboys can pull them this time, Sony has a history of not performing at their best hardware wise, and are likely not gonigto change their formatting and pricing that easily.

Meh Halo, one great game.
Playstation2 dominated and playstation 3 will too but less convincingly because of companies making their game for every system.
and the reason they win and have won is games.

You're right, ruling. Although I'm a bit spectical on why it's costing so much and cetrtain failiures with the first-beta batches going to stores nationwide, if the media backs off them just until before launch then maybe it'll trounce the X360 all over... and with a marketplace similar to the 360's (although the cost will be less to go online) I also have high hopes for it

I'll be picking up a PS3 eventually, a Nintendo Wii as well I'm sure. They both seem like they'll make for some fun times, each for their own reasons.
The one system I'll never pick up is a XBox 360. Why? Because it's got what, one relatively unique game? Or HAD one relatively unique game. Halo. That's it, that's the only reason anyone gives a damn about the XBox period is Halo. The original halo was great, I loved it, and I bought it for PC (where it has more content). The second Halo was nothing special, just an overly shiney, relatively sloppy looking sequel that just plain isn't as good as the original. You might get it for the online play, but I've already got loads of games that're more fun online than that. Other than that the 360's just got rips from games that were originally out for other systems or the PC. Doom 3, better for the PC. Quake 4, same thing. Half-Life 2, again, better for the PC, lets even add Call of Duty 2. Mainly for the fact that these are all first person shooters, and you can get them looking better on a PC, and first person shooters play infinitely better with a mouse. Even Oblivion you can get looking better on a PC, and still I'd say controls better through one. Without Halo the XBox/360...is pretty much worthless in my opinion, when compared to even a PS2, and certainly when compared to the PS3/Wii. And the funny thing, is that compared to today's standards, Halo's not even that great anymore.
The reason I'll be getting the PS3 is simply for the games, it's the reason I loved the PS2, so, many, games. You'd walk into a video game store and see the XBox/Gamecube games taking up one wall, and then the PS2 games taking up another 2. Lots of great series, Jak & Daxter, Final Fantasy, Ratchet & Clank were fun, GTA, Tekken (I love fighting games), the list goes on and on I can't even hardly begin to list off all the great games it had. I expect some of the same for the PS3. And being that I already have all the good XBox/XBox 360 games on my PC, the Wii might as well take up my other slot. If for no other reason, I want to try out that nifty little controller.

yeah you're bang on PieXags. I liked the PS2 as well as the gamecube as I always seemed to go back to them after a while. Although there are a few PC-ports-to-controller games, The GC and PS2 had some seriously good games. I'd love to get the HD versions of God of War, the next ICO installment and Metroid Prime. Zelda looks like it'll also be a great launch title for the Wii as well

for me , I'll get a Wii first since I love the price and their great above average games. Most of their 1st party games are better than half of the 3rd party games.
I'll get a PS3 eventually, the price is reasonable but I heard that their games will cost somewhere in the hood of $60-$100 or something like that. they'll have a wide variety of games. Great 3rd party games
360 looks like it still is focused on ppl who have out-of-control hormone lvls because most of their games mainly for ppl who jerk-off because there are too many games that are like Rumble Roses or something.
when I buy a game, I want to play for fun, not to you-know-what when playing it. this really isn't it's downfall but what is that it had one unique game like Halo to support it and without Halo, Microsoft would have never made a xbox 360 since, Halo was the only reason why ppl bought the original xbox.

I'm not buying any more console games. They just can't compete with my computers. I would rather use that money for computer upgrades or new computer games.

I'll be getting PS3 and hopefully the games on PS3 will blow away the expectation that i have for next gen consoles.
As fow Wii.. hmmmm i might get it but it all depends on if the controller is easy to use instead of making gameplay harder for users.

For the record, I don't like the game "Halo" or "Halo 2".
XBox360 though, I wouldn't mind seeing at the top this time around. Which it might.

Wii for me~ ^^
*plays animal crossing on DS, whenever not on GW*
Nintendo doesn't intend to compete directly with the 360 or the PS3. Its not gonna be part of a "war". Its gonna sit on its over there and do its own thing with no competition because its so different. Because of that, they will make the most profit and continue making games and consoles.
PS3 will cost Sony a LOT of money, and could possibly be their last hurrah. I mean...how many times do you shoot your foot?

yeah, got to wait until 17th November for it unless they have to rebuild it all! O.o

Only replying because of the title...
I hate Sony as much as I hate Microcrap.
Sony forces people to lie to their fans. Sony buys up companies and screws with the players.
Microcrap is no different.
All those robot dogs and messed up consoles.. it was all fueled by the money made off of other people's work.
Philips Odyssey ftw!

Its not Microcrap, its Moneysoft or M$.
I grew up on the console teet, like most gamers today. But one must be wheened eventually, and from my standpoint getting another console would be the gaming equivalant of sucking one's thumb. I realised this when I noticed I was only using my PS2 for a DvD player and little else.
That's just me. PC games are cheaper, more compatible with a piece of hardware that is already multi-functional and "necessary" for my lifestyle. I'd buy the heck out of some of their games...if I could find another emulator I liked...
PS: I gave up on Sony after a billing fiascoe with Evercrack 2.

i loved halo/2. greatest games ever. those were the onlu console-specific games i ever played.
Then i look at ps3 and think they may have spent too much time trying to kill xbox and not just make a good system. then theres nintendo. they always were, imo, childish. xbox had halo, ps2 had solid snake stuff (i think,,,) and nintendo had mario. mario is cool and all, but childish. i had no intentions of even wanting a Wii untill i saw the game red steel. the game made me realize the possbilities of their new controller, and im gonna have to play tha game. nintendo or not, it looks hellacool. i dont even like mafia games!

A really noisy DVD player at that too. Atleast the few movies I watched on m brother's PS2, the unit's fans made quite a lot of noise.
What it comes to Sony itself, I've been kinda with them ever since the audio CD copyprotection crap, and after spending a day configuring a Sony MP3 player, since the software didn't work out of the box. Even more hilarious it was when it wasn't an MP3 player at all, rather an ATRAC player. (All the MP3's had to be converted to ATRAC with Sony's own poopy program, which was very, very slow on top of the horrible interface).

Going a little off the console wars thing and replying to the MP3, I recently got an iPod and it's actually quite easy to do -- As long as you update the iTunes Library and make sure that the tunes are NOT windows media audio, you just plug it in and it'll sort it out for you I only get MAP (or Music-Audio Players) that don't require a confusing programming language in order to plug in, convert and listen to great music.
Back on the console thing, Kaguya, I sense that you have one of the FIRST PS2 consoles (known as a SCPH-30003 in tech terms), so it can cause a few problems on some of the new games.
Thinking about it, I might swap for the slimline (SCPH-70007) console, then I can go online and play Norrath on it!
Minus sign, SoE has made a couple of mistakes regarding MMOs, and like FFXI, it's of an Acquired-hardnut case. I hear that it goes up to £25/€35/$40 for a CHARACTER to enter just a server! ...That's why if I get a P2P MMO, I'd go with WoW, as it's cheap and is for the Account to be used for ALL the servers
